Founded in Glasgow in 1883, the Boys’ Brigade is an interdenominational Christian youth organisation that has over 700,000 members throughout 60 countries. Combining drill and fun activities with Christian values, the stated objective of the Boys’ Brigade is: "The advancement of Christ's kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness."
The Boys’ Brigade was introduced to the young men of Niue in 1946. This stamp issue commemorates the 75th anniversary of its presence in Niue and the importance of this youth organisation to this small island nation.
