Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, toured New Zealand for the first time in 1953-54. Here, Queen Elizabeth is pictured arriving at the Disabled Ex-Servicemen's Vocational Training Centre in Christchurch.

$2.00 Commonwealth Games 1974

In 1974 New Zealand was the host of the British Commonwealth Games, and Queen Elizabeth attended them along with Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Anne’s husband Captain Mark Phillips.

$2.00 Silver Jubilee Tour 1977

On 28 February the Queen officially opened the Beehive - New Zealand’s new government building. Queen Elizabeth II is pictured here during the tour wearing a korowai (Māori cloak).

Here Queen Elizabeth II arrives at the marae (meeting house) of the Ngāi Tahu Māori tribe, Rehua, Christchurch in 2002. The korowai she wears was a gift for her coronation in 1953.

$4.60 New Zealand War Memorial 2006

On 11 November 2006, Armistice Day, a memorial was unveiled in London’s Hyde Park to commemorate the New Zealanders lost in the First and Second World Wars. Queen Elizabeth made the official dedication in her capacity as Queen of New Zealand.
