Hawke's Bay hosted the BAYPEX Stamp Show - 29 to 31 October 2004.
Issue information
This was the first national stamp exhibition which was held in the region. The event marked the 70th anniversary of the Hawke's Bay Philatelic Club and the 50th anniversary of the Hastings Stamp Club.
The event included a feast of competitive displays – as well as a rare surviving item from RMS Titanic and postal material associated with the region’s devastating 1931 earthquake.
New Zealand Post commemorated the auspicious occasion with a special souvenir miniature sheet and souvenir cover, featuring highlights of this beautiful part of New Zealand.
