New Zealand Post released this stamp issue to commemorate two conferences held during the month of May 1995 in Auckland.

Issue information

Auckland hosted two major regional conferences in a month when both the Asian Development Bank and the Pacific Basin Economic Council staged their 28th international annual meeting in May 1995. Stamps and first day covers, designed by Cue Design of Wellington, were issued by New Zealand Post to commemorate the events.

Asian Development Bank

This stamp was issued to mark the Asian Development Bank's annual meeting which was held in Auckland in May 1995. The bank was established in 1966 in Manila, in the Philippines, to promote the social and economic progress of its developing member countries, especially the smaller and less developed ones.

Pacific Basin Economic Council

This stamp was issued to mark the 28th year the Pacific Basin Economic Council has played a vital role in developing business among Pacific nations. The Council was formed in 1967 by business leaders who saw the need to co-operate with each other and with governments and international agencies in the development of the Pacific.
