Join us on a journey through the sights and sounds of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Along the way you’ll discover the unique kiwi culture and diverse landscapes which have lead New Zealanders to refer to this beautiful nation as A Slice of Heaven.

Issue information

As you delve into this colourful stamp issue, you’ll discover famous city attractions such as Auckland’s Sky Tower, Wellington’s Cable Car, and the Christchurch Cathedral. The natural beauty of New Zealand is hard to escape as you take in the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, ski up a storm at the alpine resort of Queenstown, and enjoy the stunning coastlines along the way.

Weaving in and out of the landscape, you’ll stumble across rural New Zealand in the form of farms, vineyards, local sports games, holiday spots, Maraes and close-knit communities. It’s these aspects of the nation that make up every day New Zealand, and that contribute to the unique ‘kiwi’ culture.

Journey Through Paradise

Start your journey at Mount Ruapehu (third stamp down, left hand side) and you'll soon find yourself rowing up the mighty Waikato River. Continue with a punt on Christchurch's Avon, then immerse yourself in the Huka Falls and the glorious Lake Taupo where water sports are in full force. If you make it out the other side you'll ground to a halt at the typical one-lane bridge (where everyone is trying to get to their holiday destination at the same time you are!). Then it's down the Shotover River, past the thrill-seeking tourists and finally to the Rakaia River and out to sea.

Along the way you'll have discovered the beauty and character of this country we call New Zealand - A Slice of Heaven.
