As the plates for the 1902 Postage Due stamps had been in use for many years and were beginning to show signs of wear it was decided that it was appropriate time to introduce a new design for this series of stamps.
Issue information
The 1902 Postage Due stamps were withdrawn from sale on the 15 August 1939 at the close of the business day with the new stamps issued the following day.
