The 1943 Health issue featured Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth on a triangular shaped stamp.
Issue information
The stamp design incorporated an oak spray and a spray of manuka in the lower corners. The triangular stamps proved very popular with first day of issue sales totalling more than what was sold during the five month sale period of the 1942 Health stamp issue. The proceeds of the Health value of these 1943 Health stamps were donated to the Children's Health Camps movement.

Single 2d + 1d 'HRH Princess Elizabeth' gummed stamp. Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926. She had a traditional royal childhood, not attending school but being tutored at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle by private tutors including Queen Mary, who taught her much about constitutional law and the role of the monarch. Whilst not excelling at academic subjects, Elizabeth developed an early interest in the arts and sport, especially in horse riding. Princess Elizabeth's teenage years were dominated by the Second World War. Like many London children she spent much of the war in the countryside to escape the nightly bombing raids. Towards the end of the war Elizabeth became a junior officer in the army and learned the un-Queenly trade of an army driver and mechanic. |
