Due to the popularity of the previous year's Health stamps which depicted the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret it was decided to produce a second issue with the same theme in 1944. The final stamp design was framed with kowhai blooms.
Issue information
The portraits were copied from photographs taken by Dorothy Wilding Portraits Ltd and one of the firm's artists designed the stamp border. The proceeds of the Health value of these 1944 Health stamps were donated to the Children's Health Camps movement.

Printed in green: Princess Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926. She had a traditional royal childhood, not attending school but being tutored at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle by private tutors including Queen Mary, who taught her much about constitutional law and the role of the monarch.
