The 1970 Christmas Stamp issue included an Old Master; a stained glass window; and a church tower.

Issue information

This was the first occasion that the annual Christmas stamp issue consisted of more than just one stamp, this was due to public demand for Christmas stamps that matched the principal overseas postage rates.  The illustration for the 10c stamp was completed by Mark Cleverley and the graphics for the other two stamps completed by Don Hatcher.

The Old Master - 2 1/2c
"Adoration of the Child" by Correggio.  The original painting is in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy.

Stained Glass Window - 3c
From the First Presbyterian Church, Invercargill.
