Issue information
Stunning Locations
Released on 22 March 2004 were two new stamps for our Scenic Definitives collection which captured two of New Zealand's favourite tourist destinations. The 45c Scenic Definitives stamp took us to the ocean-side township of Kaikoura on the South Island's eastern coastline. Long a service centre for the local fishing industry, innovative entrepreneurship has seen the township become an internationally renowned whale-watching destination. Further south, the $1.35 stamp featured the Church of the Good Shepherd, a beautiful chapel which is a simple stone structure located with breathtakingly dramatic effect against the backdrop of the turquoise glacial Lake Tekapo that has become a sought after wedding venue.
The 45c stamp was available in sheets of 100, while the $1.35 stamp was available in sheets of 50.
Majestic Moments
The 2004 Scenic Denifitives stamps were displayed on the first day cover against a stunning image of Kaikoura at sunrise - a fitting compliment to the entire stamp issue.
