Our reasons for sending cards, letters and parcels are as diverse as the people and the nations to which we send them - whether it's a message of congratulations or condolence, a gift for a newborn baby or simply a "hello, how are you?" from a place far away. Whatever you want to say, you can now say it even more eloquently, with a message on the outside, as well as the inside.

Issue information

New Zealand Post's first issued 'personalised stamps' in June 2001. Locals and tourists throughout the country had seized the opportunity to send these distinctive stamps on mail to friends and family around the world - adding a very personal touch to the postage experience.

This brand new set of personalised stamps was available as a sheetlet and as a first day cover (with the sheetlet affixed). This offering was a true collector's item as it would be the only format the 10 stamps which were sold together. The 45c, $1.50 and $2.00 stamps featured a set of images that captured both a sense of occasion and our unique national identity. It's simply a matter of choosing the stamp that suits the message you wanted to send.

The images were both event-specific and broad-ranging - from wedding rings and sparkling champagne to iconic national symbols the kiwi, the fern and the pōhutukawa - our native 'Christmas tree'. Whatever you chose, they were a wonderful way to communicate emotion's and occasion through the medium of stamps.
