Between 2-5 November 2006 the ‘garden city’ of Christchurch hosted Kiwipex 2006 – a national stamp exhibition that marked the centenary of the 1906/07 New Zealand International Exhibition, which was also held in Christchurch.
Issue information
Occupying more than 1,800 square metres of space in the Christchurch Convention Centre, Kiwipex featured around 700 competitive exhibits as well as philatelic-focused activities, trade stands and International Exhibition memorabilia.
To honour the occasion, New Zealand Post issued an exhibition miniature sheet and special souvenir cover. The miniature sheet featured an image of the 1906/07 Christchurch International Exhibition buildings and the official Kiwipex logo. The cover reflected both the traditional and the contemporary – the theme of the Kiwipex exhibition.
