Design
The first coin in this set depicts an enraged Māui using his divine powers to transform his brother-in-law into a beast – the first dog of New Zealand. The second coin shows a forlorn Irawaru transformed into a dog, and his wife, Māui’s sister Hinauri, crying at the loss of her husband. Both coins are embellished with unique koru designs. The coins are minted to the highest proof quality to showcase the finest details in the design.
