Cancelled set of five stamps.

$2.90 Protect our borders - New Zealand’s border process helps to stop harmful pests and diseases from entering Aotearoa New Zealand, protecting our environment and primary industries.

$4.00 Report exotic pests and diseases - Early detection of harmful new pests and diseases is a vital part of our biosecurity system. Every New Zealander should be vigilant, and report suspected new organisms to MPI.

$4.20 Respond to potential threats - New Zealand’s biosecurity system works in three layers: offshore (pre-border), border and domestic (post-border). Each layer acts as a barrier to unwanted organisms or limits the harm they can cause.

$4.70 Stop marine pests and diseases spreading - The marine environment is one of our most valuable resources. New Zealanders can help the effort to protect it by cleaning marine equipment and vessels.

$5.50 Protect our primary industries - Aotearoa New Zealand’s economy is largely based on its primary industries, and exports food to over 200 world markets. Biosecurity plays a large role in protecting these essential sectors, and for over 100 years the New Zealand government has provided safety and suitability assurance for dairy, meat and manufactured foods.

This stamp issue explores the defence system that protects Aotearoa against pests, diseases and other biological threats. Click here to find out more.
