Children and Christmas have always been inextricably linked – so who better to design our Christmas 2007 stamps than our younger generation? It’s an idea that turned into a nationwide competition, which yielded more than 17,000 entries. Only five were destined to become the stars of our stamps – and be seen by millions around the world.

Issue information

The 2006 ‘Design a Stamp’ competition was such a success that we couldn’t resist doing it again. In 2007, school children nationwide were given the challenge of designing a stamp with the theme of ‘Christmas symbols’ – and once again, the results were simply astonishing. The winning five, and particularly the Supreme Winner designed by Sione Vao age six, demonstrated the talent and imagination that abounds among Kiwi kids today.
