The popular theme of sport on Health stamps continued in 1971 with two stamps depicting hockey. This theme was selected for the stamps as New Zealand was the host country for the tenth International Federation of Women's Hockey Association's conference and tournament in 1971.
Issue information
The third stamp in the 1971 Health Stamp Issue commemorated the Golden Jubilee of the New Zealand School Dental Service. The New Zealand School Dental Service was the first of its kind in the world and over 97% of New Zealand school children enrolled as patients received the benefits of this service. The proceeds of the 'Health' value of health stamps were donated to the Children's Health Camps movement.
