Niue Language Week 2016 runs from 16 to 22 October and the goal of the week is the maintenance, retention and development of Vagahau Niue (Niue language).

Issue information

With more Niueans living in New Zealand than in Niue, keeping the native Niuean language alive is a challenge. Niue Language Week serves as a platform to promote and raise the demise of Vagahau Niue (Niue Language).

The Niue 2016 Language Week stamp issue featured everyday Niuean phrases alongside their English translations.
