Marking 60 years of a monarch's accession, a Diamond Jubilee is an event to remember. As Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrates hers in 2012, the people of Niue will join the rest of the world in commemoration.

Issue information

As Head of the Commonwealth, The Queen plays a symbolic and unifying role in linking countries like Niue to the rest of the Commonwealth. Niue is proud to have Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch, and is issuing a unique stamp issue to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

This special stamp issue has been officially approved by Buckingham Palace and is made up of two gummed stamps. Each stamp combines a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the beautiful hibiscus flower that is commonly found in Niue.

$2.40 – 1953 Commonwealth Tour

Queen Elizabeth II made her first Commonwealth Tour of her reign, and her first visit to New Zealand, in 1953. The $2.40 stamp pictures her waving at spectators in Pukekohe, in New Zealand's North Island. Niue is a self - governing country in free association with New Zealand, and this commemorative stamp issue highlights the close relationship between the two countries.

$3.00 – 2012 Portrait

The $3.40 stamp features the official 2012 New Zealand portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is pictured wearing the Sovereign's insignia of the Order of New Zealand, the New Zealand Order of Merit, Star, Sash and Badge and the Queen's Service Order.

Niue’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee stamp issue isn’t complete without the miniature sheet, first day cover and miniature sheet first day cover. The miniature sheet is a beautiful collectable of the Diamond Jubilee, and incorporates the stunning hibiscus flower.
