Sheet of 24 x $3.60 stamps
$3.60 Bush Nurse - In 1927, in response to needs of the community, the WDFU launched one of its first major projects, the Bush Nursing scheme. Nurses with surgical and midwifery qualifications were employed to provide care in remote and hard-to-access areas. Pictured is a bush nurse on horseback.
$3.60 Centennial Rose - To celebrate the centennial, Matthews Nurseries Limited created the Rural Women Rose, a highly fragrant rose of the Floribunda variety which displays lilac-shaded blooms. The rose helped fund an education bursary for the Fordell/Mangamahu branch. Roses of the Rural Women variety are proudly planted in gardens across the country.
This stamp issue celebrates Rural Women New Zealand's centenary. Click here for more information.
