The re-release of these popular stamps made them available in a booklet of ten self-adhesive stamps.

Issue information

The stamps in this issue were originally released in May 1996 in rolls of 100. In response to popular demand, they were re-issued in a booklet of ten 40c self-adhesive stamps.

The six scenes featured represented some of New Zealand’s most treasured natural scenery. Four of the six stamps appeared twice in the booklet.

Mt Egmont/Taranaki, rising to a height of 2,518 metres, dominates the skyline of the province of Taranaki on the North Island’s central west coast.

Tory Channel is a narrow twisting passage that allows ships to access the mid reaches of Queen Charlotte Sound from Cook Strait.

The 14 kilometre long Fox Glacier flows from snowfields below Glacier Peak and Douglas Peak in the South island.

Piercy Island, in the Bay of Islands, is otherwise known as ‘Hole in the Rock’ because of the huge hole that goes right through the island at sea level.

Lake Wakatipu is a stunning, zig-zag shaped lake scooped out by glacial action thousands of years ago. Covering almost 300 square kilometres, it is the second largest lake in the South island.

On a still day, the dark waters of Lake Matheson reflect a perfect mirror image of the snow-capped peaks of Mt Cook and Mt Tasman, 20 kilometres to the west.
