The area was negotiated with the villages of Makefu and Alofi North, as it runs across the village boundaries. Niue is a raised coral atoll surrounded by pristine hard coral reefs that are home to several endemic species. As Niue has no lakes or streams there is no sediment in the water, it offers underwater visibility of up to 100 metres, making a Niuean diving or snorkeling experience among the best in the world.
