New Zealand Post was delighted to be a major sponsor of Timpex 2009 – the 2009 New Zealand National Philatelic Exhibition held in Timaru on 16 - 18 October.
New Zealand Post was proud to sponsor Timpex 2009 - a New Zealand national stamp exhibition organised by the Timaru Philatelic Society under the patronage of the New Zealand Philatelic Federation.
Held between 16 and 18 October 2009, the exhibition was part of south Canterbury's sesquicentennial celebrations. To mark the occasion an exhibition miniature sheet was produced that featured a specimen of the $20 Definitive released in 1994. Unlike the original stamp, the specimen had been printed by offset lithography. It was gold foiled, over glossed and over printed 'specimen' - it was not valid for postage. Also featured were three stamps from the 2008 Sir Edmund Hillary issue and you could read more about the link between each of these stamps on the back of the first day cover.
$2.50 from the sale of this product went to help fund the New Zealand Philatelic Trust.
