Sheet of 20 x $5.50 Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula gummed stamps.
Consisting of two overlapping volcanic cones, Banks Peninsula was thrust out of the sea by a series of volcanic eruptions over 10 million years ago. Only 20,000 years ago, the Canterbury plains met the volcanic island and linked it to the South Island.
The 2025 Scenic Definitives stamps showcase some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s extinct and dormant volcanoes. Click here to find out more about the stamp issue.
