Set of 20 x $4.20 'Scientific diver beneath sea-ice' gummed stamps
A scientific diver ascends towards an access hole cut through approximately two metres of sea-ice, guided by a shotline and tethered to the surface. The green hue beneath the ice is caused by ice algae, which form the base of the Antarctic marine food web. This image reflects the specialised techniques required for scientific diving in one of the world’s most extreme environments.
This stamp issue explores the unseen world beneath the Antarctic sea-ice. Click here for more information.
