The China ’99 exhibition was held at the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing from 21 to 30 August.

Issue information

As the last large scale international philatelic show to be held in China in the 20th century, it was an opportunity to promote the development of postal services and philatelic business in China and around the world, and to fostor goodwill between the visiting nations.

To commemorate what promised to be a historic event in global philatelic history, New Zealand Post issued two miniature sheets for the China ’99 exhibition. The first miniature sheet featured Native Tree Flowers, while the second was a variation on the 1999 Year of the Rabbit – Popular Pets lunar miniature sheet which featured the exhibition logo.
