Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) is the National Paralympic Committee for New Zealand and a member of the International Paralympic Committee. Spirit of Gold is a term to describe the dual purpose of PNZ: ‘gold’ to recognise its high-performance credentials and ‘spirit’ to represent caring for and inspiring communities. It is also a way of describing a Paralympian: the unique mix of talent, determination and heart that drives success on the world stage and provides inspiration to the next generation.

Paralympians will once again take to one of the greatest stages in the world between 24 August and 5 September 2021 for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Through their amazing successes, Paralympians are incredible role models, challenging societal perceptions of disabled people worldwide.

$1.50 Sophie Pascoe New Zealand’s most decorated Paralympian, below-the-knee amputee Sophie is a nine-time Paralympic gold medalist and multiple world champion.

$2.80 Cameron Leslie - Para swimmer and Wheelchair Rugby player Cameron Leslie was born with a quadruple limb deficiency. He is the world record holder and three-time Paralympic gold medalist in the Men’s 150m Individual Medley SM4.

$3.60 Emma Foy & Hannah van Kampen - Dargaville-born Emma Foy, who is visually impaired, snared a bronze medal at the 2013 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships. She was ranked #1 in the world in the Elite Women’s Tandem track standings along with her sighted pilot Hannah van Kampen.

$4.10 Spirit of Gold - Spirit of Gold is a term to describe the dual purpose of Paralympics New Zealand: ‘gold’ to recognise its high-performance credentials and ‘spirit’ to represent caring for and inspiring communities.
