3D Secure
3D Secure (3DS) is designed to make online shopping transactions safer. 3DS is a set of rules that provides extra protection for merchants and customers for online payments.
It is used to authenticate the cardholder during payment processing, similar to entering a PIN for an ATM or EFTPOS transaction.
Why does NZ Post Collectables use it?
NZ Post Collectables takes your privacy and data security seriously and we do our best to provide a high standard of protection for our customers against online credit card fraud and theft.
How does it work?
On the week of 17 March 2022 NZ Post Collectables introduced changes to the payment service on the Collectables website to provide this extra layer of security.
When ‘Credit Card’ is selected as the payment option at checkout, customers are redirected to an external payment page hosted by our gateway provider Windcave.
The new payment page includes 3DS . If a credit card is enrolled for 3DS, the customer will need to enter a password as an additional step to entering their credit card details that is then verified by the card issuer. Once the issuer has verified the password, the customer is redirected back to our website and the purchase will be finalised with us.
(Windcave uses Verified by Visa, Mastercard ID Check and Amex SafeKey)
What if my credit card is not enrolled?
Most major banks and financial institutions automatically enroll their customers for this service, and 3DS is a feature on a growing number of websites. If you have not enrolled your card, and your provider requests verification from you via our website, you will not be able to finalise your purchase. If your card declines, please contact your card provider to make sure you’ve signed up.
