Mint set of four gummed stamps.

$2.90 Archey’s Frog - Archey’s frog is our smallest native frog. They live on land in the forests across the Coromandel Peninsula, and the Whareorino Conservation Area. Males brood small clutches of eggs until they hatch as froglets, entirely skipping the free-living tadpole stage.

$4.20 Hamilton’s Frog - Hamilton’s frog is our largest and most critically endangered frog. They live on land and only occur naturally on two islands in the Marlborough Sounds.

$4.70 Hochstetter’s Frog - Hochstetter’s frog is our only living semi-aquatic native frog. They are the most widespread species, living in small pockets of native forest in the northern North Island. Hochstetter’s frogs are particularly impacted by habitat loss and modification.

$5.50 Extinct Frogs - This stamp features three Leiopelma frogs that became extinct after the human settlement of New Zealand. Surviving species require continued conservation protection to ensure that these frogs will continue to survive for generations to come.

This stamp issue highlights the conservation efforts protecting Aotearoa New Zealand's unique pepeketua - Leiopelma frogs. Click here to find out more.
