These two stamps were issued to commemorate the opening of New Zealand's first satellite earth station situated near Warkworth approximately 50 miles north of Auckland.

The parabola receiving aerial - 8c
The orange dots represent the earth stations of the pacific satellite while the white dot represents the New Zealand station.

The satellite in space - 10c
The green dots represent the earth stations of the pacific satellite while the white dot represents the New Zealand station.

Stamp bulletin

This stamp issue first appeared in New Zealand Post Stamp Bulletin No. 6 in August 1971.
