Singapore 2015 was the third World Stamp Exhibition to be held in Singapore. It was held in conjunction with Singapore's 50th year of independence, with the full support and patronage of the Federation lnternationale de Philatelie (FIP) and under the auspices of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately.
Issue information
New Zealand Post took part in the exhibition and issued unique exhibition collectables. These products were in the form of a joint stamp issue between New Zealand, Australia and Singapore. As 2015 marked Singapore's 50th year of independence and the 150th year of Wellington being New Zealand’s capital city, this issue featured all three countries' parliament buildings.
Special Exhibition Collectables
Included in the issue was a special exhibition miniature sheet that contained the $2.50 New Zealand stamp alongside the 0.70 Australian (AUD) and $1.30 Singaporean (SGD) stamps. The design featured Singapore’s famous skyline at sunset. The exhibition souvenir cover featured the exhibition miniature sheet as well as datestamps from all three countries, making it a must-have for collectors and attendants at the show.
A Stamp Featuring New Zealand’s Parliament
This joint issue featured a new $2.50 New Zealand stamp that shows New Zealand’s most iconic parliament building - the Beehive. The Beehive is where many ministers have their offices, including the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Designed by British architect, Sir Basil Spence, the idea behind the building is that the rooms and offices should radiate from a central core. The building was opened in 1977, with full occupancy occurring around 1979 once the upper floors were opened. The stamp was also available on a first day cover that featured the changing face of parliament buildings in Wellington in the past 150 years.
