Since Health stamps were introduced in 1929 a number of different themes and topics have been depicted. The 1979 Health Stamp Issue depicted the 'Marine Environment'.
Issue information
The proceeds of the 'Health' value of health stamps were donated to the Children's Health Camps movement. The 10c + 2c stamps were designed by Geoffrey Fuller and the 12c + 2c stamp by Peter Blackie.
Marine Environment - 10c + 2 c x 2
The two stamps printed se tenant depicted a demoiselle fish (Chromis dispilus) and a sea urchin (Diadema palmeri).
Marine Environment - 12c + 2c
This design is based on the research activities carried out at the Marine Laboratory, Leigh and depicts an underwater photographer with a red mullet fish.
